The Southwest, like the Windrider and Junction, represents our vision of a versatile, adaptable, and capable tool for nearly any adventure. Since its introduction over fifteen years ago, countless backpackers have seen and done it all with theirs. The Southwest’s main pack body is built with a new, fully woven Dyneema^® 200-denier fabric that offers more durability than ever before with the same signature lightweight and 100% waterproof qualities that have made Dyneema our primary material choice from the beginning. With solid-fabric exterior pockets that offer added protection for whatever’s inside in abrasive, rocky terrain, the Southwest is a comfortable pack that delivers premium performance wherever you’re headed.

• The new Dyneema^® Woven Composite 3.9 combines the light weight of Dyneema^® Composite Hybrid 3.8 with durability and abrasion resistance that surpasses even the heavier Dyneema^® Composite Hybrid 5.9.
• Redesigned shoulder straps and a sewn-through back panel provide a more comfortable and secure fit, with better weight distribution and less wear over time.
• Redesigned outside pockets with more depth, lower back edges for easier access to water bottles, and improved security for gear (like the ice axe) make packing and accessing items more convenient.

FEATURES

Top Closure: Roll-top closure system with vertical compression straps allows you to adjust the pack's volume, keeping the load compact, stable and protected from weather.

Compression: Top Y-Strap provides compression and top of pack storage for gear.

Back Panel: An integrated 1/4” foam back panel pad adds cushioning and support for a more comfortable carry.

70L Back Panel: An integrated dual density foam back panel with plastic stiffener adds cushioning and support for a comfortable carry at heavier loads.

Hip Belt: Dual density foam hip belt, featuring closed cell foam and spacer mesh, provides comfort and support for long hauls.

Hip Belt: Hardline with Dyneema^® zippered pockets on the hip belt offer easy access to essentials, secured with a reliable #5 YKK zipper.

Stays: Two removable, contoured aluminum stays offer support and help distribute the load. Stays can be removed for additional weight savings.

Weather Protection: Seam tape on all vertical side seams and behind sewn-on pack features enhances water resistance, keeping your gear dry.

Sternum Straps: 3/4" Sternum Strap allows for easy adjustments along shoulder strap daisy chains.

Shoulder Straps: Redesigned shoulder straps featuring an adjusted shape for a more natural curve around your neck, providing enhanced comfort. More frequent bartacks provide increased sternum strap adjustment options, allowing for a perfectly customized fit.

Dyneema Fabric: Crafted with our exclusive Dyneema^® Woven Composite 3.9, this fabric offers significantly higher durability at a lighter weight than DCH materials. Its unique fully woven Dyneema face provides exceptional abrasion resistance, feels better to the touch, and reduces crinkling in cold conditions for a superior user experience.

External Carry: Customize your carry with removable side compression straps that easily adjust or detach, offering versatile gear attachment options. Opposing buckles allow you to secure items centrally, while daisy chains on the outer pocket accommodate various straps for added external storage flexibility.

Hydration System: Stay hydrated on the go with a streamlined hydration system featuring a simple bladder hang loop and a repositioned hydroport.

Ergonomic Fit: Sewn-through back panel construction creates a curved shape that locks the interior panel in place providing a more comfortable and durable fit.

Pack Accessory Options: An optional, removable inside pocket is available as an accessory, enabling you to add extra internal storage whenever you need it.
